Over the past few weeks I began my full????-retirement. As I re-adjust my time and priorities my thoughts keep going back to a list I made 2 years ago....the list was of 41 things to do when I retire.. one of the items was to return to Gubio-Italy and participate in "The Race of the Candles", Corsa dei Ceri, Gubio, Italy. The race proper begins at 6.00 pm when the ceri (candles) are blessed and then they carried up the hill to the basilica. Crowds follow and cheer all the way and the excitement is contagious.

What was your first experience on this race like? I'm reading a book where the author talks about how this race has spiritually changed her - if you don't mind sharing, could you please tell me what's so moving about this race?
