It would be a good way to do class surveys

We could post essential questions and have the students respond to them after completing a unit.

Blogging would be a fun way to ask students questions about books they have read or activities we have done in class.

I can make a connection to the community by posting my homework and study guides online.

I would use a blog to share what the class did in the computer lab, so students can return to websites and practice/extend/have fun under their parents supervision.

It's good to know that you are interested in connecting with parents. That is awesome!

Every Friday, I could write my reflections of the week at Jamestown and have a link to the PTA eNewsletter.

I think one way of using a blog would be in parent communication.
I am also thinking of using a blog after reading Flat Stanley with my class. We would send our flat stanleys around the country/world and ask the responses to be posted on the blog. Each person who receives the flat stanley would write about where they live and what their lives are like there.

I can make a connection to the community by publishing the arts calendar for the year. this will detail field trips, concerts and assemblies.

Parents could see work from the entire class and get a better idea of how their child is doing.

The community could see how hard teachers work (if we just worked a little harder to create a blog) and support a decent cost of living raise.

I could use it for posting resources (websites, books, etc.) that can be used at home.

We can use a blog to show pictures, stories, videos and share lessons that are happening in the classroom. It is a good way to communicate with parents and the community about how Jamestown Kindergarten is the best!

We could post information about parent resources and upcoming county/ school events.

how about student issues they could put here instead of issue bin? Then offer solutions ...just a thought-Darlene

Darlene - It might work but think about the fact that it's all in public - perhaps some of the items in an issue bin are not for public consumption. . . Laura H.
